1950's

Elvis Presley
The 1950's were an influential time in music history for the U.S with certain genres such as classic pop, R&B, rock & roll, blues, country, jazz and folk becoming more and more famous.

The classic pop era was the replacement for big orchestral songs that were the sound tracks to World War II. Mitch Miller was one of the biggest names in this decade being the largest record labels A&R man. At Columbia Records he introduced new forms of music by telling a story instead of just singing a song. Miller conjured new sounds with different instruments and miscellaneous objects such as whips, french horns and harpsichords.
