This generation of sound was the threshold for parents worrying about what was wrong with their child because of the noise they listened to. The parental generation grew up with the smooth, relaxing jazz or classical music and now their children are exposed to the drugged up anthems of, what we know as, Rock&Roll.
The illegality of what the artists of the 60's did was monumental and that is just one of the reasons that the generation fell in love with them. It was a change of pace and people were becoming absolutely obsessed with it. The 60's was known as the psychedelic age to some and the years of the hippies. One of the biggest names in music "The Grateful Dead" had one of the largest followings in history and they called themselves "Dead-Heads".
Whether the bands came out with a love song that had every girl in the audience sobbing or a tripped out slow jam that had everyone trying the infamous Mr. Brownstone the 60's were one of the most influential, record breaking eras in the history of music.
